FINALLY!!! - by: Rapine

After pretty much forever, I finally installed my Gladius. Then I had a speaker issue that ended with the speaker being basically destroyed, and had to order another - more waiting...

They arrived though, and I wasted no time. :) Goth 3D chassis, NBV4, 18650, RCP, custom colour cyan LED, cool SWTOR font from SoundFont.com...

I made a quick "See if it explodes" vid:

I also grabbed a few glam shots. I'll just post a few for now:

I'll make a proper review video shortly. :)

ASP part swap - by: Danielbs80

So i had originally intended these to look lile this but im wondering would it look better with the bodies swapped? Maybe it would give the bottom lightsaber more of a graflex look. I had the graflex in mind when puttting it together cause i wanted my own version of a graflex or inspired.

Sabercore 3.0 swings jumbled - by: Danielbs80

Ever since I got this sabercore lightsaber The Swinging can get jumbled up at times especially if I'm twirling about. I'm thinking the problem has to be a software setting on the soundboard which I can't change using the software because I've already tried to just about every setting possible over the course of many weeks. Perhaps a firmware update to resolve this issue is in order. Maybe it has to do with the timing. In the video I had my swing sensitivity set to 20% and just prior to that I had it set to 5% and it would still give me that same problem and I find if I have the setting any higher than 20% I'll get more jumbled up sounds when I'm not even twirling it.

I was just listening to the video and it may be hard to detect it sounds a lot more obvious in person but what I'm talking about is with a saber core when I spin it there will be three sounds itll go whoosh and then it would be something like a hiccup in there and then another whoosh at the end and with my Nano biscotti when I start the spin downward it'll go wooosh and then on my upward motion as I go down again to finish it'll go wooshe again so it sounds like the way it should I think

Saberforge Unleashed Reviews - by: Execute66

The Monarch's replacement is the Unleashed. It feels more comfortable to hold than the Monarch and while it is not as attractive to me as the Monarch, it is much nicer in real life than suggested by the photos.

Saber Forge Repair - by: Discoetheque

Just wanted to stop in and give proper due to the repair staff at Saberforge. I got my Disciple Shoto a while back, and it worked literally just long enough for me to open it up, play with it for a little bit and take a few photos before it went down that same evening with a defective soundboard. The customer service staff did what they could over email for a few days to attempt to troubleshoot the issue before we decided it was hardware-related and warranted being sent back.
So mid Feb, I sent my precious amber beauty back and awaited her return.
She was fixed in just a little under four weeks. A new soundboard was installed, and she came back to me all shiny and as perfect as the day she arrived (I know this because there was a little scrape next to the bolt that holds the blade plug in place where my hex key slipped, and now it's gone). They very well may have replaced the entire top portion of the saber, because I had sanded it down that same evening I got it and when it was returned to me, the points were sharp again.

Not only was my saber repaired and cleaned up and returned to me with documentation of what was done, but I was also given a new Covertech wheel set, new belt clip and a darn nice T-shirt. Which they really didn't have to do, but was amazing.
So thank you so much, Saber Forge customer service and repair!

Hello everyone
Just received my archon hilt today! It's a great saber, has a great length for one or two handed grip. My only issue was a few sharp edges on the shroud. Here's a couple pics of what it looked like upon arrival.
Thanks

Recently while perusing through saber reviews I noticed that the Jade Fire has only two of them. So I thought I'd finally add mine---I've had this one for over a year now and just didn't get around to doing a review when I got it. It's actually my daughter's hilt that I bought for her during one of the sales that Saberforge had.

It kinda seems that this saber gets a bad rap--mostly because of the box on it near the emitter (the corners were kind of sharp) and the fact that it is a smaller hilt, but I have to say I find it quite comfortable to hold. It's a very light weight hilt, perfect for a one handed grip. I always thought this saber had a very unique look. I was glad when they sent it to me with the brass kill key and blade plug. My daughter loves this saber, especially the purple led. Personally, I think this saber would have looked better with Indigo (the purple seems too light for my tastes), but she loves it so I can't & won't complain.

All in all I really like this hilt--it's another beautifully done saber by Saberforge. You can't beat the silver/brass/black color combo of this baby. Here's the pics, thanks for looking!

Champion Double Reveal Graflex - by: Brax

Do you remember the first time you saw a light saber? It was probably the first time you saw Star Wars (Episode IV: A New Hope), if you saw them in order of release. The graflex design was the first light saber ever seen on the big screen, and it sure left a big impression on me! That blue-white light, and that sound! A few moments later when Obi-Wan made short work of Panda Babba, we knew what a light saber really could do! It was awesome, and frightening at the same time, seeing the bloody arm lying on the floor. Nothing by today’s standards, of course, but just the kind of thing that excited a teenager like me back in the late 70’s, and starts them on a life-long path as a Star Wars nerd, with a passion for sabers.

I kind of always knew that I wanted a graflex in my collection, especially once I had the Redeemer, and the Prodigal Son. And while the Saber Forge take on the design might not be 100% screen accurate, it certainly hits the major highlights. The glass eye, the bunny ears, the brass pins, the red faux button, the clamp arm/activation box, and the D-Ring. The weight of the saber certainly makes it feel real, and the blade plug that Saber Forge created just for this saber does the trick nicely.

My original opinion that sabers with activation boxes are more suited to be shelf queens, rather than practical duelers is not diminished here. It is not as uncomfortable as you would imagine, but it would hurt a bit if you, and an opponent were dueling hard. Especially with a longer, heavier blade (which takes the balance point well past the tip of the emitter). This one feels better with a 32” dueling blade, or perhaps a thin-walled blade that was longer would not feel so awkward, but would obviously not be as suited to heavy dueling.

Bottom line, I am very satisfied with this saber, and feel like another piece of my childhood dreams have become a reality.

So, without further adieu, the Saber Forge Double Reveal Graflex!

The finish is, for all intents and purposes, flawless. No scratches, or dings, or scuffs. Just shiny, easy to smudge, and covered with fingerprints. Nothing a soft cloth can’t deal with.

The Medium Blue LED is very bright, and the color is beautiful, and shines very nicely around the blade plug.

To be continued in the next post.

single hole for switch in reliant initiate? - by: jedielijah

I recently purchased a reliant initiate hilt from etsy. I was surprised that it had only one switch hole. I didn't think saberforge still produced the single switch holes anymore or are they going back to a single hole setup because of the new chassis that "could" contain the USB or kill key set up?

[SOLD] - ASP Stunt w/NBv3 - by: IINerfII

SOLD

Hello everyone! Today I am offering an ASP build I did a year or so ago. The starting price will be $175 with free shipping to the contiguous USA only for the installed saber and blade plug. There will be no blade or charger included, just the saber and blade plug. Transaction will be done through Paypal. The price is negotiable, please PM me with any offers.

Here she is:

It's a stunt build, but it has a Nano Biscotte v3 card inside. So why is it a stunt? PLEASE READ!!

The card has a defect that I didn't find for a long time. No matter what settings for sensitivity are enabled, the saber will constantly do swings if held with the pommel straight up. I should clarify that the saber works perfectly find with sound with the exception of it being held in this described way, which is not very common. Therefore, I've decided to sell it as is as a stunt saber with flash on clash. In this way it is fully functional, if not better than the average stunt.

The build contains the following:
- Complete ASP Saber w/Blade Plug
- NBv3
- rB/Amber/White Tri-Cree LED
- 3.7v 2600mAh Wired 18650 w/Recharge Port (and silver knurled kill key!)

This saber will be sold as is, with the potential to upgrade to a functioning (but slightly glitchy) sound saber with the purchase of just a speaker! The hilt was used for light to medium dueling, so there is some scuffs and scratches on the hilt. Again, the saber will be sold exactly as shown, with the exception of the blade.
Thanks for reading!

3D printing parts - by: Danielbs80

I ordered a 3d printer last night and will arrive by Thursday and I've been mucking around with tinkercad to make a chassis so I will have something ready to print when it arrives. So far it's pretty basic and not finished with it yet. I'm going to need to make it into gcode so the printer can read it. From what I' hear I'll need a slicer or I donno if tinkercad can export it as gcode.

Here's what I have so far

It has a place for the battery to slide in and on the other side a spot for the NBv4 board and on the top a spot of the extender with a channel for wires and some decorative stuff on the sides to also reduce the amount of material.

Roman’s Props Mara Jade V2. - by: Vechaljian

I bought one of these not too long ago from Ovrcahst and after doing this install, which was the biggest pain in the ass, I'm glad I did buy the one from Him..anyway this began when I bought that one and showed it to a couple people, and then they wanted one for thier mantle.

So lets start with the spec's, It features a NBV4 w/pex RGB tri cree XP-E2, 3000mah 18500 battery, 27mm railmaster hi bass 8ohm speaker, and a 12mm RCP, and a small tactile switch in "clamp card" area.
The challenge of this build was that basically at the mid section of saber where the body ends is all you have for your install, the threaded area of the middle of the saber is you heat sink, then to add insult the speaker vent is not in the pommel but the lower section of the body. and then comes pre drilled for a switch where I put the RCP, lets say its super tight.

On this part I wish I took pictures, but I had to make a chassis using a 1 inch section of thinwall blade tube( no 3d printed chassis would work on this) , it works great beacuse it securly fits into the bottom side of the middle section/led heatsink, and then I mocked it to fit the battery, and notched so the Nbv4 could but attached on the battery, drill hold through for the switch and Rcp, Once I tested it all, I hot glued it in place and heatwrapped it. I used some nice foam padding to make it snug in the hilts body(1.10 in the hilt), lastly I had a 1.10 bass speak holder 3d printed in my inventory and just ran the speaker wires forward, with a quick connect to allow acces of SD(need long tweezers lol) By pulling the speaker out, I have about a perfect 1inch gap between the speaker and the back of the battery/chassis/soundcard assembly. I made a brass mesh insert to hide the wire from the speaker going forward and give it some flare.

Lastly was the switch, I had some left over tactile from my Count build so I just drilled a hole, mounted it and hot glue it in place, the other hole is so you can unscrew the switch box if necessary, i'll be filling it later with a trim brass rod, to look like a switch, I just ran out.

All in all on this build It was a challenge, I had fun, and Im glad I bought mine with a prizm already installed, I'd of dreaded making that card work in this lol.

Unless I'm mistaken, I can't find the option to purchase day blades on SF's Etsy site anymore. I could have sworn they were there not two or three days ago... kind of disappointing, I was thinking pretty heavily about getting a blue one with my blade plug from there.

I've been watching the Talon like a hawk. ;) And was going to buy a Champion tier one during the recent March18 sale but it went out of stock right when the sale hit and all during. However I noticed today that the back order notification has been removed, so it appears they are back in stock! B)
